iPod Shuffle and iPod Classic

The line-up of this famous portable media player, as of June 2010, consists of four product models. Those are compact iPod Shuffle, video capable iPod – iPod Nano, classic version of iPod - iPod Classic, and the touch screen model iPod Touch. Description of specifications and features of models iPod Shuffle and iPod Classic is the topic of this article.

iPod Shuffle:

iPod Shuffle

Its height is 1.8 inch or 45.2mm which makes this the most smaller music player in the world. It weighs 0.38 ounce or 10.7 grams, so it is probably the most lighter player also. Capacity of iPod Shuffle is 2GB and 4GB. It has built-in rechargeable lithium-polymer battery which enables you up to 10 hours of playback time when it’s fully charged. Fully charging takes 3 hours. Audio formats supported are: AAC (8 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), HE-AAC, MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, 4, Audible Enhanced Audio, AAX, and AAX+), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV. In the box you get iPod Shuffle of course, earphones with remote, USB cable and Quick Start guide. You can connect it with Windows system via USB 2.0 port and Windows Vista, Windows XP Professional or Home with SP3 or higher. It is also necessary to have iTunes 9 or later. It can be connected with the MAC systems also. The price of 2GB iPod Shuffle is $59, and the bigger one of 4GB costs $79. It is available in five colors (displayed on the picture above).

iPod Classic:

iPod Classic

This media player was known simple as iPod, and this is his 6th generation. It brings you 160 GB of data storage and possibility to listen music, watch videos, play games or share photos. Its height is 4.1 inches (103.5 mm), width 2.4 inches (61.8 mm), depth 0.41 inch (10.5 mm). It weighs 4.9 ounces (140 grams). Display diagonal measures 2.5 inch. It is LCD with LED backlight, of 320-by-240-pixel resolution at 163 pixels per inch. It can holds up to 40,000 songs in 128-Kbps AAC format, or 25,000 iPod-viewable photos, or 200 hours of video. It has dock connector for USB cable and 3.5mm stereo headphone jack. Battery is built-in lithium-ion and it brings you up to 36 hours of music playback time or up to 6 hours of video playback time. Full charge time is 4 hours, via USB to computer system or power adapter which is sold separately. It has language support for Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish. It has language support for display of song, album, and artist information for these languages: Bulgarian, Croatian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese. It can be connected with Windows system in the same way like iPod Shuffle (described above), and of course with MAC system. It is available in two colors (displayed on the picture above). In the box you get iPod classic, earphones, dock connector to USB cable and Quick Start guide. The price of this model is $249. Features it brings are:

Musical Genius – this feature finds songs on your iPod classic which sound good with the song you are listening to, and then organizes them in playlist.

Watch movies and TV shows – 2.5 inch display enables you to watch all kinds of videos you previously have bought or rent in iTunes Store.

Play iPod games – iPod classic comes with three games - Vortex, iQuiz, and Klondike. You can purchase more games from iTunes Store.

Share photos – you can watch slideshows with music and transitions on iPod classic or play them on a TV using an optional Apple component or composite AV cable. You can sync with the photos you have on iTunes on Mac.
